Odyssey in Chinese Ink Painting is a Final Year Project created by Emma Cheuk for
Bachelor of Fine Arts, Nanyang Technological University, School of Art Design and Media (NTU ADM). This project aims to create an entry for the audience to learn the beauty of Chinese Ink Art by reintroducing it in the simplest, interactive and fun way.

My research question is as follows;
How to improve Singapore student’s interest and knowledge of Chinese Ink Art?

To answer this question, I have developed the Odyssey in Chinese Ink Painting project. It is an immersive interactive experience that introduces the famous modern Chinese Artwork by Wu Guanzhong.

 

Licence & Attribution

This work is a homage to Wu who had a huge contribution to Singapore Modern Art by recreating the painting’s scene digitally. It is a personal project and is not resellable. All rights regarding Wu’s original painted artworks belong to Wu Guanzhong.

Hope & Dream 

I hope the concept of 3D ink painting animation could construct an entry point for art beginners to appreciate Chinese Ink Painting heritage in Singapore, or even extend the application to the whole world. Cultural heritage could be protected,preserved and promoted through integrating and implementing technology into art development. This project explores an innovative way to utilise existing modern advanced technology to inspire art enthusiasts.
