ABOUT GHOCIANT

In Ghociant, three young designers, Carol, Emma and Hamimah, have fabricated a nature walkthrough, composing elements of sound and smell from the nature around them. The elements are handpicked by the curators in order to maintain originality. 

 

A trail leading into a deep dark forest and exploring different natural environments, the exhibition depends on its viewer’s imagination to provide them with any visual experience as there are limited visual cues to guide and/or restrict them. 

 

The entire exhibit is divided into four trails, with two scent and sound trails each; Twilight Aroma, Singing of Sunset Song, Before Dawn and The Moonlight Orchestra. The first and second trails consist of the sounds and scents of the Orchard road; Twilight Aroma contains the strong and exotic scents the Orchard road offers and Singing of the Sunset Song was recorded at 6:55 pm when the birds start singing in response to the setting sun. The third and final trails are scents and sounds from Macritchie Reservoir, Before Dawn consists of the earthy and muddy scents unique to Macritchie and Moonlight Orchestra is when the forest comes to life and wakes up to a new day. 16 elements have been used to define Ghociant and each one of them is unique and relevant to the exhibition as a whole. The misty soundproof walls divide and allow different layers to form between every trail. And remember to see the floor for navigational information.

 

Ghociant will be a calming journey through a serene environment of sounds and scents and will allow you to visualize a niche of your own within a definitive and shared atmosphere.
